On Monday morning, March 3, 2025 Pawnee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call involving an unresponsive child. Upon investigation, it was determined that the child may have had access and possibly consumed a schedule II drug which ultimately resulted in the death of the child. 

There were other children found in the home at the time who were safely taken into state custody. 

Both of the child’s parents have been charged with two counts of child neglect and one count of homicide - murder in the first degree when child neglect is involved. These are charges and not convictions. All parties are considered innocent until proven guilty.
